The basic principle of the Liquid Crystal Display black and white screen is to fill the liquid crystal material between two parallel plates, and change the arrangement of molecules inside the liquid crystal material through voltage to achieve the purpose of shading and light transmission to display different shades.

Under normal circumstances, when light is irradiated from top to bottom, usually only one angle of light can penetrate down, and then enter the groove of the upper interlayer through the upper polarizer, and then pass through the channel of twisted arrangement of liquid crystal molecules to pass through the lower polarizer. Form a complete light penetration path. On the other hand, two polarizers are attached to the interlayer of the liquid crystal display, and the arrangement and light transmission angle of the two polarizers are the same as the groove arrangement of the upper and lower interlayers.

When a certain voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer, due to the influence of the external voltage, the liquid crystal will change its initial state, no longer arranged in a normal way, and become an upright state. Therefore, the light passing through the liquid crystal will be absorbed by the two-layer polarizer and the whole structure will be in an opaque state, resulting in black on the display screen. When no voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer, the liquid crystal is in its initial state and will reverse the direction of the incident light by 90 degrees, thus allowing the incident light from the backlight to pass through the entire structure, resulting in white on the display. In order to achieve the color you want for each individual pixel on the panel, multiple cold cathode lamps are used as the backlight of the display.
